Join us on an adventure in our brand-new playground!
Stand guard at the top of the watchtower and be on the lookout for anything exciting in the area. Run along the rope bridges to warn your friends if you see pirates or knights on horseback. Scramble over obstacles, use the slides to get down quickly, or hide out in your safe hut at the very top of the playground. Beware of the wobbly bridges: there may be crocodiles waiting below. Swing through the ropes to the other side like a real Tarzan or Jane, while making sure the crooks don't catch you! Have fun!
Adventurous design with natural materials
In designing the playground, Burgers' Zoo mainly used Robinia wood, which is not only very durable and has a lifespan of up to 25 years but has also retained its beautiful natural forms. The resulting playground is not sleek and rigid; the structures are playful and not completely symmetrical, allowing plenty of room for fantasy and imagination. Along with a variety of interconnected slides, rope bridges, climbing towers and other imaginative climbing structures, the playground is home to a large beaver dam that looks like it was once built by a family of giant beavers. Durable
After more than fifteen years of loyal service, the old outdoor playground needed to be replaced. Burgers' Zoo's new playground covers an area of around one thousand square metres and is made of durable Robinia wood, which has a lifespan of up to twenty-five years. It was manufactured by SIK-Holz in Germany. The new playground needs very little maintenance, and the design gives it a natural appearance by preserving the natural structure of the wood.
Safety
Experience is central to everything in Burgers' Zoo's philosophy, so the Arnhem zoo opted for a challenging playground which offers plenty of fun while keeping safety in mind. The playground has been extensively tested and certified by independent organisation TÜV. Wood chippings on the ground absorb impact in the event of a fall. There is a special section for children from ages 0-4 near the outdoor terrace. The rest of the playground is intended for children from 4 to 12 years old.
