Practical information about your journey through Burgers' Zoo

Map of the zoo

Burgers' Zoo covers a total of 45 hectares! If you wish to prepare your visit to Burgers' Zoo, click here to see the map.

Signposts in the zoo

There are various signposts, each with four signs, located throughout the zoo. The top sign indicates different routes through the zoo. The route numbers and explanations can also be found on the map that you will receive at the entrance. The top sign also has an arrow pointing in the direction of our conference centre, the Safari Meeting Centre. The next two signs point the way to various habitats and the animals within the habitat in which you are located. The knob on top of the signpost indicates which habitat you are in. The bottom sign points towards facilities such as toilets and restaurants.

Burgers’ Avonturenland is a large, modern playground surrounded by a terrace. The Park Restaurant with Dutch cuisine and Panter Plaza distribution points is located next to Burgers’ Avonturenland, allowing parents to enjoy a cup of coffee and cake or a meal, while the children run around in the climbing area with rope bridges, slides and swings. The playground is split into two areas: a safe play area for young children and a separate play area for older children. Since 2012, there is also an indoor play area, the Kids Jungle.

Pets not allowed

Pets can spread diseases among the animals of Burgers’ Zoo, but our animals can also transmit diseases to your pets. Therefore, pets are not allowed in Burgers’ Zoo.

If you need to express, please go to one of our restaurant employees. They will show you to our first-aid room where you can sit in peace. You also have access to electricity in this room.

Smoke free

As a family zoo, Burgers’ Zoo is essentially smoke-free. We want to protect all our visitors and animals against harmful passive smoking and the many children in our park from the temptation of smoking. We believe everybody wants children to grow up safely and healthily. Of course, smokers remain welcome! That is why we have designated smoking areas with ashtray tiles throughout the park, where you can also dispose of your cigarette butts. You are permitted to smoke within the marked area around the smoking tiles. This also applies to e-cigarettes.

Some scootmobiles are available at Burgers' Zoo. Hire is €50,00 of which €45,00 (deposit) is refundable. Pushchairs are also available, and can be used with a €2,- coin, just like a shopping cart system. Both types of chairs need to be reserved in advance by telephone via 026 – 445 0373.

Wheelchair route in the park

A special wheelchair route is available at  the cash desk as well as at the entrance of the park. This is the most convenient route for wheelchair users.

Accessibility: Hilly terrain

If you have mobility problems, please consider that the Arnhem landscape is hilly compared to the rest of the Netherlands. Pushing a wheelchair up and down the paths in our park can be very heavy going. If you have an electric wheelchair, we advise you to bring it with you.

Disabled parking area

Our car park has a special area designed for disabled visitors. To reach this area you need to follow the wheelchair signs. At the top of the lane you can get out and park your car at one of the special parking places (indicated by a wheelchair logo). A blue badge is not required.

Taxibus- and wheelchair bus drivers may use the parking area designed for disabled visitors. At the top of the lane your clients may get off the bus so they won’t be bothered by the ramp. You are urgently requested not to do so directly in front of the entrance as the slope there is rather steep which would be demanding for the carers. The driver can collect a parking coin at the cash desk.

Disabled toilets

Toilets for the disabled are located at the entrance of the park, in the Bush Restaurant, the Desert Restaurant and in the Park Restaurant near the playground.

If so required, you can rent a cart for a child at the ticket office by the entrance. These carts can be pulled by hand (please note: these carts are not buggies). We only have a few, and they cannot be reserved. You can rent a cart for 2 euros with an 8 euros deposit which you will receive back upon return of the cart.

Push Bikes

Push-bikes are only allowed in our park in case of medical necessity. Please contact the Reception prior to your visit. A medical certificate written by a doctor is advisable.

Burgers' Zoo retains the right te refuse the use of a push-bike in the park.

Balance bikes for children

Burgers’ Zoo is situated on hilly terrain and going downhill on a balance bike can be very dangerous. Therefore, balance bikes are not allowed into the zoo. The employees at the entrance will put the bike into storage, and you can pick it up on your way out. Ideally, it would be best if you left it at home.

Important information

In our park we take various measures to guarantee the appropriate distance of 1.5 meters. For example, we use a maximum number of visitors per day. In order to safeguard this maximum, it is necessary that all visitors (including subscribers) reserve online access to the park in advance.

Due to the new measures, Burgers' Zoo will be closed from 5 to 18 November.
