Adventurous firefly sparks spectacular light show at Burgers’ Zoo

Tuesday, 22 September 2026

Seven years since the last edition, Burgers’ Zoo is organising a reimagined version of its enchanting light show, Burgers’ Light. Visitors follow a little firefly on an adventurous quest to find the one light that shines just for him. The spectacular light show starts at 17:30 on Friday, 27 November 2026. Tickets are available for weekends and holidays up to Sunday, 28 February 2027.

An adventurous journey

Light plays an important role for a firefly. During Burgers’ Light, visitors follow the adventurous journey of a male firefly in search of the one light shining just for him. Along the way, he discovers what light means to many species, and how various animals react to light. In keeping with Burgers’ Zoo’s philosophy, the display is designed to inspire wonder while conveying a subtle educational message.

Developing the concept

The Arnhem zoo’s marketing department partnered with a specialist lighting company to create a reimagined version of the spectacular Burgers’ Light experience. The goal was to create a captivating evening route filled with light in the form of projections, shows, and objects, woven together into a cohesive experience with a clear narrative—a story that draws visitors in, fills them with amazement and teaches them something about nature.

Distinctive light show

Kim Huijing, marketing manager at Burgers’ Zoo: “I’m incredibly excited about what we are creating. In close collaboration with lighting specialist MK Lichttechniek, we have developed a spectacular light show that fits Burgers’ Zoo’s narrative perfectly. Using a powerful combination of light, sound and storytelling, we take visitors on an immersive journey through our park, drawing visitors ever deeper into a world of wonder. The strong cohesion between story, light and sound makes Burgers’ Light a unique experience that truly stands out from other light events.”
