Royal Burgers' Zoo is a real family business where involvement is of paramount importance. Would you like to join our team? We are currently looking for an: Aquarist/Animal Keeper Ocean (38 hours contract)

In this position you can focus on:

  • the daily care of animals in aquariums and quarantine. You have an eye for the safety of people and animals;
  • food preparation and feeding;
  • observe and interpret animal behaviour and recordkeeping;
  • maintenance and cleaning of aquariums, technical rooms and installations;
  • breeding corals and fish;
  • diving in various aquariums;
  • measuring water quality and adjusting filters.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has completed MBO+ training (associate's degree) in an animal-related field, a diving license is an advantage;
  • has comprehensive understanding of aquatic husbandry (at least 5-10 years) with aquariums and their inhabitants;
  • has experience in the operation and maintenance of LSS systems;
  • is analytical and can respond to changes in the field;
  • is willing to work varying shifts from Monday to Sunday, we are open 365 days a year;
  • can work independently as well as in a team and have a proactive attitude;
  • is accurate, structured, flexible and social;
  • SCUBA certification is a pre, but not a must;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch or English, if not native speaking Dutch we expect your to learn the Dutch language.
