Burgers’ Zoo has one of the largest public aquariums in Europe, including a unique coral reef ecosystem aquarium that ranks among the largest in the world. For our unique Ocean, we are looking for a Aquarist/Animal Keeper Ocean.
As Animal Zookeeper Ocean you take care for our highly diverse and extensive collection of animals, includ-ing a unique collection of corals.
What else will you be doing?
- The daily care of animals in aquariums in anmal care or animal management, a diving ceritificate is an advantage here
- Taking a critical look at the animal enclosures and, together with your colleagues, constantly seeking ways to improve the animal welfare, enclosures or living environment
- Observe and interpret animal behaviour and recordkeeping
- Maintenance and cleaning of aquariums, technical rooms and installations
- Diving in various aquariums
What do you bring to the table?
- A completed MBO or HBO qualification in animal care or animal managmeent, a diving certificate is an advantage here
- Work experience in an aquarium an their inhabitants is a pre
- Flexibility and a willingness to work at weekends, on Sundays and on public holidays
- The ability to adapt to changes in the workplace and a tendency to come up with ideas
- Independence; you can work well on your own whilst actively seeking to collaborate with your colleagues
- You are a hands-on person who takes the initiative, and you are accurate and organized
- A cheerful disposition, a sense of humor nad a positive mindset
- A diving medical examination is part of the procedure
