Burgers' Zoo is launching a free app that virtually guides visitors through the park and provides extra information on numerous animal species. Burgers' Zoo Map allows the user to explore existing routes or create personal favourites. A special feature is the 'live view' display, where virtual arrows appear on the screen with the help of augmented reality.
Users can customise the free Burgers' Zoo Map app to a great extent. If a visitor wants to see the gorillas, lions and sharks, the app programs the shortest route along these three species. When the visitor clicks on a specific animal icon, they get more information about that species.
App users can select to display in 'live view'. Real-time images of the walk through the Bush or the Ocean, for example, are enriched with virtual indicators showing the desired walking direction on a self-chosen route.
Beacons that communicate with the app's technology through signals are scattered throughout the zoo, allowing the app to determine the user's exact location and update the information that points the way forward. Using intelligent technology, the actual walk through the park is enriched with additional, relevant information at specific locations.
