Search for young natural leaders in nature conservation launched

The search for three new winners of the prestigious international nature conservation prize, the Future For Nature Awards, has started. Candidates from all over the world can apply. Future For Nature is looking for young, talented, and ambitious conservationists (no older than 35) committed to protecting species of wild animals and plants. A new generation that will make the difference for the future of nature. Three winners will receive this prestigious award and 50,000 euros each during the Future For Nature Award Event at Royal Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem.
Future For Nature
More than ever before, it is clear that human life is dependent on nature, that life on earth depends on biodiversity. Each species that goes extinct weakens the system. Therefore, Future For Nature supports young, talented, and ambitious conservationist. The foundation is looking for young people (no older than 35) with vision and purpose, trailblazers who inspire to safeguard species and ecosystems. Individuals that bring hope for nature.
Call to apply
Applications are accepted until the 28th of August 2022 through futurefornature.org. For the 2021 Future For Nature Awards more than 250 candidates from 100 countries worldwide applied: from Lithuania to South Africa, from Ecuador to the Papua New Guinea. Top international conservationists select the winners.
Future For Nature Family

• Rebecca Cliffe (2022) one of the FFN awards winners in 2022, creates the first ‘Wildlife Safe Zones’ in Costa Rica to provide a safe reintroduction area for sloths and other species.
• Mónica Torres (2021), created additional biological corridors to protect, extend and connect the habitat available for the Campbell’s alligator lizard in and between the 3 distribution areas.
• Iroro Tanshi (2020) awards winner, assesses the social context of cave disturbance from fruit bat hunting in order to specify a Theory of Change framework that will inform intervention plans for the protection of the species.
Future For Nature anniversary and support from international celebrities
The Future For Nature celebrated its anniversary as the Awards were presented at Royal Burgers’ Zoo (Future For Nature's main sponsor) for the fifteenth consecutive year in 2022. The Guests of Honour for Future For Nature’s 15th anniversary event were Razan Al Mubarak, newly elected president of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, European Commission. In the past, the internationally recognized nature conservation prize was presented by Sir David Attenborough, Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, Frans Lanting, and Doutzen Kroes. During the tenth edition, His Royal Highness King Willem-Alexander was the Guest of Honour.
